The Dancing Martini.

A night to remember

My school days were definitely ones to cherish immensely.Once i began college,initially i made sure i kept in touch with all my school friends,but then you know what happens.My best friends from school and i,made a pact.Once college began,we promised eachother that we would meet at least every week-end.That was what happened the first few weeks of college.But then eventually,some one or the other couldn't make it because they had other commitments.

Slowly the once a week routine turned into once in two weeks and then we kept standing each other up.Something or the other used to come up.Yeah we used to call eachother up often,but then slowly even that became less.We had new friends,new lives...

We used to tell eachother everything.Whether good or bad we used to share every little experience to one another.But then even that hardly happened.We hardly got time to catch up with eachother.I used to feel so bad when a friend called me up and fired me for not telling her that i have a boyfriend!Next time i made sure i informed her when something 'significant' happened in my life.

A few weeks back,we got to hear that our school is hosting a reunion.All batches from 1938-2005.At first we thought it was nothing but a rumour.But then,we got to know that it was true!Ok,so cool,we're going to have a reunion...no big deal right?Its JUST a reunion.It will probably be very boring.I mean come on!1938?What were we supposed to do among people that were pretty much ancient!That was our reaction.

I thought the only highlight of the evening would be that i would get to see my friends!My bitches!!(LOL)It was so so long since we got to gang up against people,or make comments on how tacky someones clothes were!I just could not wait!

We had to be at school at around 5:00 pm.I arrived,saw one friend from my group,after all the squealing and hugging and 'oh my gods',we head inside the auditorium,show the usher our passes and scan the crowd of much much much older people for familiar faces.

After downing 3 glasses of juice,my other best friends finally arrive.It was so great to see them.Then the batch of 2005(thats us) had to sit in the balcony and lead the school song(of course because the oldies might have pretty much forgotten it).Afterward,we were shown a slideshow of our school.How it was back in 1836.Wow that was breathtaking.Then when my friend who topped our school with 96.8% flashed on the screen,we cheered so loud because from the past 5 years,our batch has scored the highest percentage.

It was indeed memorable,but then the fun was just about to begin.We waited to have a picture taken,and then we saw Amrita Thappar (Miss Universe-India).Yes she is an ex-mary-ite!Ok nobody really recognised her which was pretty sad...because honestly,i think she is just fair...nothing else...

Then we headed to have dinner...we got back to the hall..where our prayer assemblies used to be held every morning...only to find a dj spinning some bloody awesome music.He was playing 'drop the pressure'.Ok...we just froze.St Mary's school.There was a dj in our school!!Were we dreaming?HELL NO!!Everybody was dancing.We all just headed to the dancefloor and once the music began to flow within...oh man...i forgot everthing that was on my mind.

We were all enjoying ourselves so thoroughly...we did not know how time passed!It was no less than a disc!!I have to admit though...our school has like the HOTTEST girls in pune.

I did not want the music to stop...but like they say,every good thing,does come to an end.

Bidding eachother goodbye,we did promise one another (again!) that we would try our best to keep in touch.This time i know i'm going to keep that promise.Because its now that i'm missing my school and my friends...

I'm so glad we're going to have a reunion like that every year!

It was indeed one of the best days of my life.
